Westdene School Bank
Westdene Primary School, in conjunction with the National Westminster Bank “MoneySense” for schools programme, operates a school bank for pupils from Year 3 and upwards.
It is manned by pupils recruited from Year 6 through a professional business selection process.
Bank customers are able to pay in their savings to a real bank account, learning the value of saving and financial processes.
The bank is open on most Wednesday mornings between 8.30am and 08.55am in The Children’s Centre, which is located opposite the school office.

The School Bank gives every child the opportunity to open a savings account but I would like to point out that pupils are under no obligation to take part in this. However, during the year, all pupils will have their awareness raised about savings accounts in general and a series of lessons is planned to support pupils in being able to read/ check bank statements and manage their finances etc.
Pupils will be able to pay money into their account at school, but to withdraw funds they will need to visit a local branch.
We are thrilled to be able to offer our pupils this exciting opportunity which will give them a real insight into the world of banking and enable them to have first hand experience of managing money.
