Our AGM took place on 2nd October 2023, and while we recruited 2 new committee members (thank you, and welcome!) our Secretary, William Santers, has announced he will stand down after 7 years of sterling service. We all hugely appreciate his time and efforts over the years, and look forward to his continued involvement with the FOW.
Our Co-Chair, David Mearkle, has also announced that due to pressures of NHS work, he will also have to stand down as Co-Chair.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help fill these posts. If you have any experience or simply a willingness to help out, please get in touch. Support, advice, and institutional knowledge and experience will be happily provided!
Happy Stone Age Day!
Every year FOW (that includes you all) funds *Creativity in the Curriculum*. Each year group will enjoy a day where they have workshops, visiting falconry, virtual reality experiences, something creative to enhance learning. We're doing all we can to make sure we make enough to fund this next year too. So please support us by ordering Xmas cards, coming to the Spooky Disco or finding your foreign currency for the upcoming collection. We couldn't do it without you! Thank you!

Welcome to the first virtual FOW AGM. It’s great to see you all here.
Thank you for coming to support our amazing school. It’s been a strange year so far and will no doubt continue to be for some time. So we will need some fresh ideas to keep up fundraising in these unusual times when not only are we limited with face-to-face activities, but also want to recognise this is a tough time financially for many.
We started last year by electing 16 committee members – many of whom are the amazing folk here tonight! They are creative and amazing and committed. And they really make the magic happen. Over the year things moved on and we’ve had resignations for various reasons from Daniela who was the life and soul of the Summer Party bar, the brains behind Spooky Disco team and generally an amazing energy, Rebecca Stone who was a wonderful voice for eco-matters and ready to turn a hand to any event, and Virginie who was at the school for only a few months but helped at Comedy Nights, discos, and did more in a few short months than we thought possible. We thank them all for their amazing work.
The amount that goes on behind the scenes is mindblowing and we are so grateful for all the help received, whether you join the PTA for one term or 6 years. We will miss you!
This year we welcomed Quizmistress Tam, our lovely Emily and Charlie, Daniel and Maja who have all been injecting new energy into ideas as well as helping at events and planning. We kicked off the year with the arrival in September of the 32 new PCs for the ICT suite, the result of our previous year’s fundraising. And with great excitement we attended the ICT suite launch in January when the children demonstrated their programming and powerpoint skills to us, highlighting the positive impact that the new PCs had on their learning.
Events we’ve produced together include last year’s incredible Autumn Comedy Night hosted by our lovely Stephen Grant, Christmas cards, brilliant Spooky Discos, socially distanced Tea and Tissues for Reception parents and the year’s highlight the Santa Dash!!! Which was a refreshing alternative to the Xmas Fair which saw the school crashing through the Icy Canyon, dodging the Polar bear and getting drenched by the snow machine all to the tunes of Disco Dan. The epic set up in the stormy weather is one to remember, not only did we raise a lot of money, it was a really fun event so thank you to Carole for pushing us to change it up.Then another awesome quiz night in February hosted by the amazing Tam which unexpectedly was the last event of this year before lockdown. And then into June the amazing Guy Garret hosted a virtual family quiz to raise spirits with Mr Franklin’s Disney picture round leaving us all stumped! Then we ended the Summer TErm with a Virtual Balloon Race.
So, what have we been spending the money we’ve raised on?
For obvious reasons, it has been a slow fundraising year and we have also delayed the big purchase which was earmarked for a new trim trail extension. Which we’ll hear a school update form later. We have, however, funded Creativity in the Curriculum, girls’ and boys’ football kit, books for every classroom and of course the Christmas Tree.
Carole and I would like to say a huge huge thank you to everyone involved in volunteering, donating, attending, raffling, selling, cajoling, and organising. We find ourselves being pub owners, warm-up instructors, sweet sellers, baristas, bouncers, gardeners, photographers and all sorts. Thank you also to the wonderful Junior Friends of Westdene, and the amazing school leadership team who are so supportive and brave to try new things including letting 650 kids dive through obstacles in the wet ground whilst wearing Santa Hats.
We start this meeting by electing this year’s committee and gathering interested helpers for the year – so if you and would like to join our PTA today, no matter what your experience or how great or small the time you have available - please come forward when we have the election process, you will be very welcome

Spooky Disco
Spooky Disco Volunteers Needed ......It is that time of the year again. Can you please let us know whether you could kindly help us run the AMAZING Spooky Disco on Friday 3rd November?

The Infant Disco (Y1, Y2, Y3 optional) will run from 6pm to 7:15pm. Please note that at the infant disco all children need to be accompanied by an adult.
The Junior Disco (Y3 optional, Y4, Y5, Y6) will run from 7:30pm to 8:45pm.

How many shopping days?!?
Well, Santa has already started interviewing for his workshop employees and so we must also put out our request for help for this year’s Christmas Fair (Saturday 2nd December). Yes, we don’t like having to talk about it as early as October either, but the earlier we start and the more support we canmuster, then the better experience we create for our children and the more money we can raise for the school. At this point we are asking for:
-Raffle prizes - would you or anyone you know be willing to offer something as a prize for our Christmas rafflethis year?
-Santa’s Grotto - we are looking for some volunteers to run the Grotto this year. It’s a really important part of the fair and the children love it. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that....think of all those happy little faces streaming past clutching their selection boxes!
-Santa - ho, ho, ho...we need a Santa..ora Mrs Santa...or perhaps a Snow Queen...there’s no point having a grotto if we don’t! Previous volunteers will testify that it’s a tiring and noisy job but one that generates lots of smiles and lots of money. So gentlemen and ladies please step forward -the more volunteers, the shorter the shift you have to do...brilliant!
-Christmas Nail Parlour - this was very successful last year -in fact so successful we had to turn people away! So this year we need lots more people to volunteer on this stall. Calling all artistic and creative types, please sign up and make a lot of little people very happy this year simply by making their nails all Christmassy. Keeping you informed
This year we're trying a new way of communicating and coordinating Friends of Westdene events. We're going to keep up with the times and use the Facebook Year Group Pages and create a Volunteer Email List. Please search for your year group Facebook page and "like" it so that you'll be informed of events that are happening and be able to respond to requests for help. If you're available to volunteer occasionally please send your email address to friendsofwestdene@gmail.com and we'll include you (not bombard you) in emails that may request for help with certain events.
Class reps have been appointed for the Reception Year (due to this being a nice way for new parents to settle in) however, as we're living in an internet age, we won't be asking for class reps from any of the other years, as Social Media Channels should be sufficient. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all class reps, past and present, for their valued support over the years. We look forward to your continued support and volunteering at forthcoming events as they cannot succeed without everybody's support.
If you don't use Facebook but would still like to be involved then there will always be Friends of Westdene information in the Friday Update.

Westdene Village Fair 12-4pm Sunday 24th Sept
Could you help us this Sunday? FOW PTA will be supporting the Westdene Village Fair on the Green 12-4pm and need volunteers to help run the 'Pick a Lolly' game. Summer Party Update

Thank you to all the families that came and enjoyed dancing along with Disco Dan - The Party Man all evening while participating in the activities provided and visiting all the stalls. Together we raised a massive record sum... £8875.23 profit!
Sports Day Tea
Thank you to everyone who helped organise and bought tea, coffee and snacks during the Junior’s Sports Day on Tuesday. This event raised £106.89!!
Assembly Prize
The Dolphins class raised the most money at their assembly this year. The winning class always wins a £50 treat. This year the Dolphins class have decided to have a teddy bear’s picnic and the money went towards treats for the children.

Committee Openings
As always we welcome new members to join the committee. Specifically this year we are looking to fill the Secretary Position and Class Rep Coordinator. This is really a great social group as well and a great way to keep involved with school activities. Planning events isn’t as boring as one might imagine!
Class Rep Volunteers Required
We rely on class reps to relay information to parents and carers before our events. If you are currently a class rep and would like to continue doing the job or would rather pass on the torch, please let us know. Many times this role is shared among a couple reps to help share the responsibility.
Junior Sports Day Tea & Coffee
At the request of many parents, we will be selling teas and coffees on Tuesday before the start of Junior Sports Day. Our stall will be located up near the nursery. Join us for a cuppa while you chat with other parents before watching our amazing children on their annual sports day.
The Public Health Department has also donated some sunscreen samples and Speak Up Against Cancer leaflets and these will be put out with the teas and coffees for adults to help themselves to.
Summer Party is tonight!
Gates open at 5:15pm. Tickets are available to purchase on the door for £4. Entrance is at the bottom gate ONLY. Please remember that dogs are not allowed on school property.

Assembly Total
Thank you for everyone for all the effort that goes into our assembly mornings: making yummy cakes, donating bought treats, organising the bake sale, setting up assembly chairs, clearing up, going the extra effort and selling leftovers after school. Dolphins Assembly

This is the most loved event of the year! It’s a perfect way to celebrate the end of a fantastic school year by hanging out with yourfamily and friends, dancing to DJ’s music, enjoying great food, thirst quenching drinks from the bar, playing games, penalty shoot-out, expending built up energy on inflatables and the challenging British Military Fitness assault course!
Advanced tickets are £3 and they are available on ParentPay now! We are also pre-selling tokens again on ParentPay...these tokens are used to pay for games and inflatables, most of the activities costing 1-4 tokens each. Save time queuing and get your tickets and tokens ahead of time!
Volunteer Request
All classes have been allocated stalls at the summer party to help make the event run smoothly. We very much appreciate all the help we receive from everyone at our events. Children’s Film Night
The Children's Film Night is tonight! This new event has sold out!
To avoid disappointment please do not attend unless you have bought a ticket. Tickets were sent out on Thursday.
Please do not worry if your child has not received or have lost their ticket as we have a list of names on the door to cross check; the printed tickets help speed up this process.
Infants can arrive beginning at 5:15 and Juniors can arrive from 7:15, this allows 15 minutes for your child to be checked in and be given their snack and settle down. Infants need to be picked up by 7:30 and Juniors by 9:00.
Children are welcome to wear comfy pyjamas or onesies and bring a cushion.

Wow, what an amazing night! Thank you to Nat Cornick and her excellent team of helpers for organising such a successful night! We had lovely nibbles that were really made extra special from the lovely donations of cheese from Cave au Fromage and delicious hummus from our local Windmill Store.

6B Class Assembly

Committee Update
Our wonderful co-treasurer, Steve Granocchia, has needed to step down from the post after doing a fantastic job over the last few years! Thank you Steve for your dedicated service and all the motivation you have provided to the committee! We will miss him dearly, but he has left the accounts in a fantastic order. As with many committee tasks we have found that doing it as a team makes it much easier and takes off some of the pressure…this is a wonderful opportunity to join our committee in the co-treasurer roll. Welcome back and Happy New Year!
We are off to a great start with our first assembly. It was great seeing all the cakes and treats for the Duke (6B) assembly today. We will have a total amount raised in next week’s update.
Our Next Committee meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday 11th January at 8pm in the school. We will be discussing what events to put on this year. Some of the events possibly in the works are a Wine Tasting evening event, Film Night, and a Family Quiz Night. Thank you to everyone who has helped make fundraising for our school such a success this term. We hope you and your children enjoyed using the newly purchased stage, and also the sound system that we bought last year at the recent wonderful festive performances. We continue to work with our school to support a wide range of needs and activities. Some of the funds raised recently are going towards a new outside space for the Infant playground that can be used by all pupils in various ways - such as a Tipi or Yurt - so watch this space for more news soon!
We have some exciting events lined up for 2017 - please keep an eye out for posters and info which will be out asap.

Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, family and friends that helped make our Christmas Fair a success. A special thank you to the teachers and staff that came back to school on a Saturday to help out. We very much appreciate your support. Thank you to everyone who volunteered on the day. Together we raised…..drum roll please…..a massive £5500!!! Well done to everyone!

Thank you for all the donations that poured into the school for the Fair! Lots of Toys, Books & Dvds, Christmas Cups, Chocolate, wonderful Hamper Items, and loads of wonderful raffle prizes from people connected to the school. All the raffle prize and christmas hampers winners have been notified. Congratulations to all the winners! All the remaining books and toys were donated to charity. The Toy Rescue Squad had first choice of the items and then we delivered the remaining items to Oxfam.
Congratulations to Ash who won the Coloured Christmas Hampers Competition by bringing in the most blue items. Lots of house points awarded!!

Christmas Fair - 3rd December 12:00-3:30 We look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas fair on Saturday. Come and enjoy lunch, listen to the Junior Choir sing, sip on a glass of mulled wine and a yummy cake in our cafe. This is a fun free family event that you don't want to miss! Lots of fun games, festive crafts, the much anticipated chocolate tombola, and don't forget to visit Westdene's very own Santa's grotto. Thank you for all the lovely donations that everyone has brought in for the coloured house hampers, chocolate tombola, books stall, toy stall, and our Christmas cafe. If you have cakes or savoury snack donations for the cafe please bring them in a disposable or well labelled container on Saturday morning

Christmas Cards The Christmas card order deadline has been extended until Monday 21st November. Please leave your order form along with cheque or cash in the plastic bag with the school office. Please make cheques payable to FOW, however if you have already made the cheques payable to the school, we can also accept this. Christmas Fair - 3rd December 12:00-3:30 COLOURED HOUSE HAMPER DONATIONS: Thank you for the lovely donations received so far! We are getting all kinds of wonderful and imaginative donations: sweets, candles, wine, soaps, food items. We will continue collecting until next FRIDAY 25th NOVEMBER. Remember any new, unused and unopened item in your house colour counts towards house points, but please make sure you check the expiry date please.
Chocolate Tombola Dress Down Day Thank you for all the chocolates and donations for our chocolate tombola. This is one of the most popular stalls! Your donations make it a success! Raffle Raffle tickets should be going home starting today. Please use the envelope (mark it RAFFLE) to return any filled in ticket stubs, money, and even unsold tickets to the office. These are due on FRIDAY 2nd December. If you or your company have something they would like to donate to the raffle this year please get in touch.

Spooky Disco - Thank You The Spooky Disco was again a huge success this year and the children had a wonderful time. As you can imagine it takes a tremendous amount of organisation and volunteer help to put on this event and as such Friends of Westdene would like to thank the 29 parents & teachers who dressed up, bought stock, decorated, prepared and ran stalls, helped with crowd control on the night and our first aider. A special thank you is needed for Daniela Dourado and Julie Wishman who did a fabulous job organising this event. As well as it being a hugely fun evening we managed to raise an enormous £2279 for the school - thank you so much.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual General Meeting this week. It was lovely to see some new faces. Our committee has been elected. A special congratulations goes to Emma Scott who has newly joined the committee and we look forward to working with her this school year! As part of the meeting we discussed the school’s needs for future funding and we hope give more details in the near future.

Get ready for a great night of dancing to the Brazilian beats and celebrating the Olympics! Last Friday saw the FoW organised Quiz night take place. The event was a huge success and raised over £800 for the school. Special thanks to the organisers Natalie Cornock, Jane Granocchia, Andrea Svoboda and Helen Cooper for all of their hard work planning and running the event and to Guy Garrett for his MC support on the night. Congratulations to the winning team "The Misfits"!
And finally a big thank you to everybody who came and took part. Without the support and attendance of parents at events like this we would be unable to raise money for valuable school resources.

Last call for quiz teams!!! Remember the deadline to get your teams registered is Monday 29th February! Join us for this much loved, fun and challenging event. Book your teams of up to 8 people now! Spring Disco Thank You
The Spring Disco was a success thanks to all of you, our main aim is that the children have a great time and we raise valuable funds in the process - we think we have achieved this! It takes a tremendous amount of organisation and volunteer help to put on these events and as such we would like to thank all the helpers involved including the school office and teachers/caretakers, we had over 40 parents/teachers helping!! We would also like to thank all the parents who also supported the Spring Disco! It gives Friends Of Westdene great pleasure to advise that we have managed to raise an amazing total of £1,920.03!
Many thanks to all the efforts of the recent assemblies! Last week 4F raised £94.40 and the week before 2S raised an outstanding £188.85! It’s amazing to see how the sale of teas, coffees and yummy cakes add up so quickly. So far assemblies have raised over £600! This money goes on to purchase much needed resources for the school!

We are off to a fantastic start to the new term!
Thanks to all the support of Westdene families, we have raised enough money for the additional set of iPads! We have also been able to fund the first phase of a ‘growing’ project set to utilise the area behind the kitchen and reception play area. This project will help support the science curriculum throughout all years - so children from nursery all the way to Year 6 will benefit.
Thank you for all the help with our events - both volunteering on stalls and attending them! It’s the help of all the parents and carers that contribute to the success of FOW! Huge well done and congratulations to all involved. The money will be a massive contribution to all of our continued work with the school and towards our goal to raise funds for a new set of I Pads, so thank you.

SPOOKY DISCO – Friday 23rd October
Spooky Disco ParentPay is now open!
You can now purchase tickets for the Spooky Disco which will held on Friday 23rd October. The price is £3.70 per child. ParentPay will be open until Lunchtime on Wednesday 21st October - this gives us enough time to print your tickets and deliver them to you via the children's book bags on the day.
Depending on numbers, you might be able to purchase tickets on the door at a price of £4, so it's best to buy from ParentPay in advance to secure your child's place.

AGM Summary
Many thanks to all the parents who were able to attend the AGM. We had a fantastic turnout and a very successful meeting. After a bit of socialising we voted into office the new committee and then voted on how to focus our spending. We have committed to increase our Creativity in the Curriculum to £1500 each term. But our long term target…drumroll please…..An additional SET OF IPADS for the school! We currently have pledged half the cost of the iPads and hope to raise the remaining amount by the start of the New Year! Spooky Disco – Friday 23rd October
Back by popular demand the amazing Spooky Disco returns.
18:00-19:15 for Years 1 & 2
19:30-20:45 for Juniors
Dress up in your spookiest outfit to win the best dressed prize. There’ll be sweets, drinks, glow products and a spooky photo booth to capture the fearful fun with your friends. Your superstar DJ will make it a spectacular evening. Also decorate your own pumpkin and bring it in to school on the morning to win the prize of best pumpkin decoration. Please note: Nursery and reception children will have their own disco during the school day.

GARDENING VOLUNTEERS
Do we have any parents or carers with a green thumb? The Friends of Westdene have two plantar boxes on the school grounds - one by each gate under the notice board. These have recently been replanted with plants donated by parents of the school. Anyone is welcome to weed or water the boxes. If there is enough interest we could even have a rota. Please get in touch if you are interested.

There are usually two reps per class who provide a link between individual classes and parents and the PTA committee. Who raised a fantastic £91.60 at their assembly the week before last! Congratulations to the children of RA whose assembly raised the most money this year! They raised an outstanding £155.66! That raises our total amount raised to £1969.51! The children of RA were each awarded an “I spy” kit with a bug viewer, notepad, and pencil!
Many thanks to everyone who helped out to make the summer party a success. We were very lucky with the beautiful evening weather. The music from both bands, Hot Damn! and Daft Phunk, was outstanding! The food from I Love Thai, Garden Grove Pizza, and Campervanatics Bratwurst were delicious! Thank you to Louise and Robert Reading for providing Candy Floss and Pop Corn! Belle Hair and Beauty donated their services by plaiting hair and painting nails. British Military Fitness pulled in lots of tokens with kids attempting their adventurous assault course. Extra thanks to Woodhart Carpentry who sponsored the Entrance, and to Woodhart Lofts and Conversions who sponsored the Raffle Tickets and helped set up our big marquees. Thank you to all the families that came and enjoyed the party - we raised a lot of money on the night! Expenses are still being tallied and we’ll know final numbers soon.
Our committee has really enjoyed working together this year! Many of us are happy to continue making our fundraising events a success. However, we are happy for anyone to join us! Our next big meeting is the annual general meeting (AGM). At the AGM we vote on officers and committee members. It’s also a great way to meet new people and help kick off the new year! THE AGM is scheduled for Wednesday 30th September at 8pm in the main hall. We look forward to seeing everyone!

1. Teddies….slightly loved stuffed animals to be donated for the Teddy Tombola. Please put in the box in the foyer hallway.
2. Cake Donations….please take them to the training office on the Friday morning of the party. (Not to be confused with assembly cakes next door in the Children’s centre)
3. Cups….Were sent home today…please start returning them (filled & sealed) to the children’s centre starting Monday.
4. Trug Buckets…please let us know if you have a trug that we can borrow for the day, to be used for ice/drinks. (Please label so we can return it to you!)
5. Gazebos…we are still short, please let us know if you have one we can borrow. Let us know by Wednesday 15th July - so we can make alternative plans.
6. Raffle Tickets (sponsored by Woodhart Lofts)…please return counterfoils and money in the envelope to the office letter box by Thursday 16th July.
7. Entrance Tickets (sponsored by Woodhart Carpentry)…We had our first box office today after school! Half our tickets have sold! Our next one is scheduled for Thursday 16th July. Don’t forget ParentPay closes Wednesday at midnight!
Most importantly…..The Summer Party is one of our biggest fundraisers for the school. Money raised pays for valuable equipment that all children benefit from such as I Pads and the Ball Wall. Please, please give 30mins of your time to volunteer to help on a stall on the day if you can - the party needs you!

We’re getting psyched! It’s time to let the cat out of the bag, and introduce our Funkadelic & Groovy bands for the summer party! It’s official!!
Planning for the summer party is underway! Thank you to everyone who attended the kick-off planning meeting this week. Some of the confirmed stalls include: Summer Cups, Sweets, Cakes, Drinks, Bar, First-aid, an Ice Cream Van, and British Military Fitness will be returning with their popular obstacle course! Don’t worry if you were unable to attend the meeting as there is still lots of opportunity to help out! This year is sure to be a great night…we are looking forward to announcing our bands very soon!

Congratulations to the Quiz Night Champions: 6 Sense or Nonsense! Great job on keeping your title, you had some great competition! Lots of fun was had by all. A special thank you to Tammy Garrett for organising the event and to the volunteers from Year 2!
Last week we thanked 2G for their assembly, but didn’t share how much was raised. Your class raised a fantastic £97.70. This brings the assemblies total up to £833.53, and we still have a dozen assemblies to go!

SPRING TREASURE HUNT THURSDAY 26TH MARCH
This event is being organised with the help of the Future Friends of Westdene. It’s a fabulous event that will be held during school hours.
SPRING BONNETS: To make the event more festive, the children can wear a Spring Bonnet or Hat to school. These bonnets can be homemade creations or just a favourite hat you already have in your closets. It’s not a competition, but just for fun!
BAKE SALE: After school the Future Friends of Westdene will be hosting a bake sale full of festive spring bakes! If you would like to donate a few treats, please bring them to the children's centre by lunch time on Thursday.

Adults Quiz Night 13 March 2015
Now is the time to start getting a team together for a fun night out with a good traditional fish and chip supper and of course a well-stocked bar. Teams will have a maximum of eight, if you have a smaller team put together we can combine them with others. No excuses now…you should find the booking form attached to the Friday Update! There are even copies waiting for you in the FOW boxes in the front office foyer. Please return them to the office with cash or cheques made payable to Friends of Westdene.

Summer Party is scheduled for Friday 17th July. This should another fantastic night. Great planning makes this possible, and we are looking to begin planning meetings in the beginning of April. If you have any ideas please send them to us at friendsofwestdene@gmail.com

Would you like to be a class rep? *****volunteers needed*****
Friends of Westdene are looking for at least two reps for each class to help with fundraising at assemblies and other events. Money made from selling cakes at assemblies and parent volunteering at the Christmas and Summer fairs helps pay for books, computer equipment, creative resources and sports equipment for all of our children. Being a class rep is hugely valuable to all of us – and the more the merrier! It also means you can help arrange social activities for parents – and get to know everyone outside of school if you would like to.

Westdene Primary School has a successful and hardworking Parent Teacher Association called Friends of Westdene (FOW).
FOW has equipped the school with many resources, including:
FOW donates £3600 per year to the ‘Creativity in the Curriculum’ fund which provides enrichment throughout the school through; theatre group visits, trips, exhibition materials, music and dance, book week and science week.
FOW raises this money through organising events like our Summer Party and Christmas Fair, Parent Quiz Night and your class assembly cake sales.
All Westdene School staff, parents and carers are enrolled automatically as members of the FOW and we are so grateful for the support and generosity shown at all events.
We know how bright and enthusiastic our children are and they would like to become active members of FOW to have a say about what they want for their school and to put forward ideas on how they propose to fundraise. This year we will launch the FOW children’s forum and we can’t wait to hear their innovative ideas!
Friends of Westdene needs you!
To continue the great work that gives such vital funding to our school, FOW now needs three parents/carers to take on the officer roles as Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. We are also looking for parents/carers to become FOW committee members. Outgoing officers will be able to provide a handover and will offer continued support if required.
We are also interested to hear from individuals or groups that would like to run particular events. For example we are already fortunate enough to have some year 6 parents who have volunteered to organise the Christmas Fair this year and we will need an army of parent/carer helpers to make this and other events, a success.
The work of FOW has helped the school flourish and grow - please help us continue to go forward and support FOW in any way that you can.

FRIENDS OF WESTDENE
Welcome back to school from FOW. A new and exciting year ahead- with hopefully lots of new and exciting fundraising ideas!
Our AGM is scheduled for Monday 29th September from 7.39pm in the main school hall. Everyone is most welcome to join us for some wine and nibbles and have some input into how we take the PTA forward.
Most of our committee have tirelessly served 2 years or more now, helping the school raise an enormous amount of money- so are stepping down this year in order to let others have all the fun! Thus we now have committee vacancies, not only for general members but also our designated roles: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Class Rep. Co-ordinator.
If you are interested in filling any of these vacancies either individually or perhaps sharing a role with a friend / partner please complete a nomination form (outside the main school office) and return it to FOW via the office by Thursday 25th for inclusion at the AGM.
