LET'S DANCE 2023 INFORMATION
Every year, our pupils in Year 4 participate in the Let's Dance show at Brighton Dome, which we affectionately call 'Dome Dance'. Here is the important information for this year's show:
-
performance dates
- Monday 13th March – 4SB Saxons
- Tuesday 14th March – 4F Romans
- Wednesday 15th March – 4LT Celts*
*This performance date is unaffected by the scheduled strike on March 15th. The children will be well-rehearsed and prepared to perform in time for their show. We will pass on any important updates from the organisers.
- buying tickets
All orders need to be completed by WEDNESDAY 1ST FEBRUARY.
Tickets must be purchased on Parent Pay. They cost £11 and 2 tickets can be purchased per performer. This limit, set by the organisers, ensures that all children in all schools can have two guaranteed audience members.
We do not want parents and carers missing out on attending the show due to cost, so please speak to us or the staff in the office if you need support with payments.
Additional tickets become available on Monday 13th February 2023 from 10am from the Dome Box office or via the Dome website online booking system. We cannot guarantee that these will be in the same section.

Timings on the day
- 5:30pm - performers are dropped off to teachers by the Max Miller statue on New Road (see map below).
- Parents can go out for a delicious meal before the show whilst the teachers get the children prepared for the show.
- 7:00pm - The show begins.
- The children will sit together as a class and watch the half of the show they are not performing in.
- There is an interval halfway through. Sadly, there isn't time for families to come over as the changeover time is so tight.
- 9:00pm - The show finishes.
- Parents are called to the foyer (one school at a time) to collect children.

- outfits for the performance
We will be providing tshirts for the children to wear for the dance routine.
The children will need to provide their own:
- All-black shoes (trainers ideally for comfort). The soles must be black as per the Dome's policy.
- Black trousers/leggings
- photo and video consent
Let’s Dance will be professionally photographed and filmed by the organisers with a DVD available to buy soon after the event.
To comply with the Data Protection Act (1998) and GDPR guidelines, we need your permission before any filming or photography of your child/children is made at The Dome Theatre, Brighton, which we will do using Parent Pay.
If one or more children cannot be filmed, the school performance will not be filmed but the children will still get the full experience of taking part.
Please be aware that no personal photography or video will be permitted within the auditorium on the night of the performance.
- what to bring on the night
Children are asked to arrive in costume for the show to save time and effort getting changed later.
We highly recommend bringing a water bottle and a snack as access to water can be tricky with so many other schools around.
There is no need to bring anything else, like spending money or a change of clothes.
- Rehearsals
A dress rehearsal takes place at 2:10pm for each class on each performance day*. As long as they are running on time, we should be back on time for the end of the day but have been delayed in the past. In this event, we will get the office to contact you.
We will organise and pay for the coaches to get the children to and from the rehearsals.
*Without knowing whether the industrial action on Wednesday 15th March will close the school, we will likely bring half of 4LT class with 4F and 4SB on their rehearsal days to give them the experience of the Dome. The main event will still go ahead regardless and the children will be fantastic without a dress rehearsal at the Dome. We will update 4LT parents with any changes to this when we know more towards the time.
