Class 5B eSTOMPie! Project - October 2011.

This was a collaboration with Brighton Early Music Festival & world famous body percussion group STOMP, combining together the medieval dance estampe with STOMP's great body percussion patterns performed to medieval music.

Year 3 Tabla Drumming & Hindu Chants Workshop - October 2011. This was part of our unit called "Animal Magic" where we learnt Indian hasthas (hand signs) & investigated the structure of Indian music.                                                                

Year 4 visit to Glyndebourne - October 2011 to watch a full length performance of "La Boheme" - the children were completely silent for 2 hours, totally enthralled by the performance!!

Year 2 Djembe Drumming & Beat Boxing Workshop January 2012 - this linked in with two of our units, understanding the difference between rhythm & pulse & investigating how vocal sounds can be changed.

Music at Westdene September 2011 - March 2012 a compilation of everything we did during this period, this presentation was shown at our spring concert in March 2012.

Year 6 visit to LSO St. Luke's, London - March 2012. The children took part in Gamelan workshops & music technology sessions, linking with our units learning about cyclic patterns & processed sound.

Year 1 Didgeridoo Performance & Aboriginal Storytelling Workshop - June 2012. This workshop linked with our unit investigating sound & the children's minibeasts topic.
